Job Responsibilities

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center Tri-County Stabilization Unit 3685 Rivers Ave #302, North Charleston, SC 29405.


The Office of Mental Health’s mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

As the Mental Health Professional II /Team Lead, working under the supervision of the Program Manager, you will provide supervision for the clinical staff and the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Tri-County Crisis Stabilization Center.

Responsibilities for this Mental Health Professional II Team Lead:
  • Provide Clinical Supervision to staff.
  • Ensure staff meet productivity expectation.
  • Ensure staff meet collaborative documentation expectation.
  • Ensure team operates in an efficient manner.
  • Orient and provide ongoing evaluation of staff.
  • Ensure staff are trained in and using Evidence Based Practices.
  • Confirm team meets caseload guidelines.
  • Ensure patient functionality is measured by DLA 20 as required.
  • Ensure team meets Quality Assurance standards
  • Comply with all Corporate Compliance, Cultural Competency policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations and attends all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations and Center policy.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
Additional Requirements:
  • This position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the event of weather or similar emergency events.
In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience. Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctorate degree from an accredited program/college/university in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by BDHDD.

Post Hire, employee must:


  • Have working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
  • Have considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric setting.
  • Have working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
  • Be able to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.
