Description:
As a Merchandiser within the Merchandise Planning (Fashion) department, you will drive category performance across all core buying and planning functions - including pricing recommendations, market research, sales and inventory forecasts, OTB, and budget control. By mastering the complete merchandising workflow from demand planning, budgeting, and purchasing to sales analysis, you will develop and execute data-driven business plans that help our stores reach company targets. In this collaborative role, you will maximise sales and profitability, build capability through product guidance and training, and drive continuous improvement activities to support MUJI's long-term growth. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategically plan local item ranges and categories by developing pricing, sales forecasts and order volumes using data-driven decision-making that aligns with our global strategy.
  • Prepare monthly sales and inventory forecasts, and lead new product launches alongside Visual Merchandising, Store Operations and Marketing teams.
  • Manage inventory through demand planning while partnering with Inventory Control and Logistics to maximise fast-sellers and minimise costs.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement activities, and visit stores to observe execution and understand customer trends.
  • Partner with Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Global teams to execute seasonal campaigns, optimise space planning, and make recommendations that drive category growth.
  • Promote MUJI's values and philosophy through staff training, new store opening support, and industry trend awareness.
This is an exciting time to join our growing company, as we further expand our presence in Australia. Teamwork, collaboration, and a continuous improvement mindset are at the forefront of our core values.

Skills and Experiences:
  • Diploma/Tertiary Qualification in Business or Merchandising is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working within the Merchandising and/or Inventory Control function within the retail industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite; creating summaries with raw data.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and rapport with employees and stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), decision-making and presentation skills.
  • Sound market knowledge, with the ability to interpret customer needs, behaviours and purchasing patterns.
  • Strong organisational and work prioritization skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks within a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to independently manage workload, demonstrate initiative and exercise sound judgement, while seeking appropriate approval when required.
