The Foreman will supervise and coordinate the day‑to‑day work in the metal fabrication/processing department. Responsible for meeting production targets, maintaining quality, ensuring safety, and guiding a team of skilled and general laborer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of workers (skilled and general labour) in metal fabrication/processing tasks.
- Schedule tasks daily / weekly to meet production targets and delivery deadlines.
- Ensure all work is carried out according to quality standards; inspect finished products/parts.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
- Monitor material inventory; request supplies and ensure materials are available for jobs.
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Train and mentor staff; provide feedback on performance.
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment is in working order, plan downtime if needed.
- Report on production metrics: output, efficiency, scrap, delays etc.
- Resolve work issues, troubleshoot process problems, suggest improvements.
- Maintain clean, organized work area; ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma; technical training / trade certification is a plus.
- Several years (e.g. 3‑5 years) experience in metal fabrication, metal processing, or similar environment.
- Previous supervisory / leadership experience.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Good problem solving and decision making skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, metalworking equipment, welding, cutting, finishing etc. depending on scope.
- Able to work shifts / overtime if required.
Working Conditions:
- Industrial / shop floor environment; exposure to noise, heat, machinery.
- Use of protective gear (PPE) required.
- Standing for long periods, physical work, handling materials.
- Potential rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime based on production demands.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
Work Location: In person
