Job Summary:

The Metal Shop Foreman oversees the daily operations of the metal fabrication shop, ensuring all projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role involves supervising shop personnel, managing workflow, and coordinating with production and engineering teams to maintain efficient fabrication processes.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of fabricators, welders, machine operators, and general laborers in the metal shop.
• Plan and schedule daily production tasks to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
• Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of shop equipment such as shears, brake presses, welders, saws, and grinders.
• Monitor quality control throughout the fabrication process and ensure finished products meet standards and tolerances.
• Provide training, guidance, and technical support to team members.
• Maintain inventory of raw materials and consumables, and communicate shortages to management.
• Enforce safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve production or design issues.
• Track work progress, prepare production reports, and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, welding, and machining.
• Ability to read and interpret complex fabrication drawings and schematics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety and quality control standards.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to assist in production when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.85-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42 per week
