A Day in the Life
As an Analyst I in our Richmond, VA lab, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.
The compensation range for this role is $19.00 to $22.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
Schedule: Monday - Friday
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
- Analyze samples by FIMS, ICP-OES and ISP-MS using EPA methods
- Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation
- Prepare standards, dilute samples, calibrate equipment
- Development of ICP/MS methods
- Maintain adequate consumables and parts for ICP/MS
- Maintain inventory of digestion reagents & supplies
- Preparation/Digestion of samples
- Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
- Comply with Quality Assurance Program and other Policies
- Inform managers or peers of their understanding or any situation that is out of compliance
- Comply with Exposure Control Plan
- Document all significant events in the measurement process clearly and completely. Legible, compliant entries into templates and logbooks to specifications detailed in the SOP for the lab documentation.
- Obtain from Group Leaders or peers a complete understanding of compliance criteria for the tests, technical training, and procedures they are performing at specific workstations.
- Workstation responsibilities may include additional items beyond those listed above.
- Other duties as assigned from manager
Your Expertise and Skills

- Associates degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in professional setting.
- An Analyst I will be able to perform much of their work independently, but needs direction from a Group Leader or more senior analyst to execute most effectively.
- Knowledge of LIMS, analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
- Must be flexible in work schedule and able to work overtime when needed.
- Well organized and have an attention to detail
- Good organization and communication skills
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

- Sitting, standing, and walking
- Lifting 50 pounds several times a day
- Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
- Works in an office environment when not deployed on an emergency response
- May be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy and windy conditions
- May occasionally work shifts up to 24 hours in duration
