About the Role

A permanent part-time role working 0.75FTE (30 hours per week) is now available for a Midwife Clinical Coach to join our brilliant midwifery team in the Maternity Unit based at Tauranga hospital. As our Clinical Coach, you will support new graduate midwives (MFYP), onboarding new staff, and guiding those returning to practice through structured, hands-on clinical coaching.

Working in a supernumerary capacity, you will provide consistent, on-the-floor support – creating a culturally safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. By building confidence and competence across the team, your leadership will directly contribute to safer care, improved staff wellbeing, and long-term workforce sustainability.

About you

You are an experienced midwife with a steady clinical hand, a passion for teaching, and a calm, encouraging presence. Whether it's a first day on the floor or a return after time away, you are there to support, uplift, and guide with skill and empathy.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Minimum of five years' post-qualifying clinical experience in midwifery.
  • Achieved Leadership Level QLP or equivalent.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
