About the Role
A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent role as Midwife Manager at Te Toka Tumai. In this exciting role, we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced midwife to lead and develop our transitional care unit at Te Toka Tumai in collaboration with NICU and Starship. The candidate will work closely with the Clinical Midwife Specialist and nurses leading a high-performing team to work in line with the key performance indicators for the unit.
The role offers the opportunity to build strong connections and a robust network across Maternity and Starship, helping develop the Clinical Midwife Specialist role and the nurse workforce and with the potential to extend, as ward 96 develops, over time.

About you
We are seeking an experienced midwife who has a strong passion for caring for newborns in need of additional support, such as those who are late preterm, have intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), or are small for gestational age (SGA). This role involves collaborating closely with mothers and prioritizing support for whanau as primary caregivers.
We need a dedicated leader who is committed to making a positive impact. This individual should be able to implement improvements that enhance our unit and elevate our performance in all aspects of postnatal care.
It's essential that you have the following requirements:
- NZ registration as a Midwife.
- A track record of leadership and successful delivery as a clinician in a senior clinical role.
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification in health management, service improvement or related field or working towards same.
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori.
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action or improving indigenous health.
- Demonstrable system-wide experience in leading and managing through transformational system change, both within the organization and externally in health.
