POSITION SUMMARY: Miscellaneous and Structural Steel Detailer
The Miscellaneous and Structural Steel Detailer (Detailer) is responsible for producing accurate and detailed shop, assembly, and erection drawings using AutoCAD and modeling software. The Detailer serves as a critical team member, collaborating with in-house personnel and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet customer requirements efficiently. The Detailer manages multiple projects simultaneously and solves detailing challenges proactively while maintaining high standards of quality and precision.

- Complete and deliver 100% of shop, assembly, and erection drawings on schedule and per specifications.
- Maintain up-to-date project logs and accurately track detailing progress.
- Identify and report potential project risks and opportunities proactively.
- Review and incorporate all revisions to ensure compliance with job schedules and client requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Drawing Production: Create detailed shop drawings, anchor setting plans, and erection drawings in accordance with AISC, AWS, ASTM standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Project Collaboration: Partner with customers, contractors, designers, project managers, estimators, and production staff to ensure all details represent cost-effective and practical solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Review and check structural and miscellaneous steel drawings, ensuring precision and adherence to technical requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and finalize material cut lists, hole programs, bolt summaries, and related specifications. Document and resolve construction queries and maintain job files.
- Team Support: Provide guidance and training to new hires or junior detailers. Monitor job schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
- Problem-Solving and Communication: Collaborate to address shop fabrication issues, field discrepancies, and construction document questions.
- Continuous Improvement: Build and maintain professional contacts to stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as assigned to support organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree, technical school certification, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in reading structural and architectural drawings.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with stairs and rails detailing is a plus.
- NISD certification and knowledge of steel construction preferred.

REPORTING | TYPICAL DAY
The Detailer reports to the Senior Project Manager or the VP of Preconstruction. Mornings begin by reviewing contract documents and preparing for detailing activities. The Detailer spends the day producing drawings, coordinating with stakeholders, and addressing project-specific challenges. Regular updates are provided to the management team to track progress and address issues proactively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
