Tailor Your Resume for this Job

Cavan Vet Group is seeking an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, progressive, and well-established practice. This role offers an excellent balance of 80% Large Animal and 20% Small Animal work, providing variety and the opportunity to build strong relationships with both farming and companion animal clients across the region.

You will be joining a supportive and experienced team committed to delivering high standards of veterinary care while maintaining a positive work-life balance. The role includes participation in a 1-in-4 weekend rota, with a manageable out-of-hours commitment and strong team support.

The Role:

Our large animal caseload is varied and rewarding, encompassing dairy, beef, and sheep work, with opportunities to be involved in herd health planning, fertility work, preventative medicine, and routine farm veterinary services. We value proactive veterinary medicine and encourage vets to develop strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of our farm services.

Alongside this, approximately 20% of your time will be spent within our busy and growing small animal department. Our companion animal clinic is well-equipped with modern facilities and technology, enabling our vets to work cases up thoroughly and efficiently. We have an in-house laboratory for routine diagnostic testing, allowing rapid diagnosis and treatment decisions. The clinic also benefits from digital radiography, ultrasound, modern anaesthetic monitoring equipment, dedicated surgical facilities, dental equipment, and all the modern conveniences expected in a contemporary veterinary practice.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary of €60,000–€70,000, depending on experience
  • 1-in-4 weekend rota
  • Generous CPD allowance with encouragement to pursue areas of interest
  • Professional membership fees paid
  • Vehicle allowance (where applicable)
  • Pension scheme
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support
  • Access to the extensive VetPartners network of clinical expertise and career development opportunities
  • Colleague discounts and a range of lifestyle and retail benefits
  • A supportive and collaborative environment

Why Join Cavan Vet Group?

As part of the wider VetPartners family, you'll enjoy the benefits of being part of a leading veterinary group while retaining the close-knit culture and autonomy of a local practice. We pride ourselves on supporting our teams, investing in facilities and professional development, and creating an environment where vets can thrive both professionally and personally.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mixed practitioner looking for a rewarding and varied role within a progressive practice that values teamwork, high clinical standards, and long-term career development.
