Multi Cargo Operations Specialist

Port of Auckland is part of the special character of our city and plays a vital role in our economy, delivering the things we need and enjoy.
Nearly three-quarters of the port's inbound cargo stays within the Auckland and Upper Waikato region. Our location on Auckland's doorstep means the delivery of goods is quick, the cost of goods is low, and our carbon footprint is small.


ABOUT THE ROLE | Te tūranga mahi

The Multi Cargo team play a vital role within our Port, and we are excited to announce a newly created opportunity for an Operations Specialist.
This position will be responsible for coordinating transactional operations, both electronically and physically, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.

This includes:

  • Monitoring the safe operations across Multi Cargo.
  • Monitoring and maximising land capacity and wharf cargo storage spaces and sheds.
  • Process Multi Cargo operating system transactions.
  • Keeping accurate records of all ship and cargo movements.
  • Process and bill all cargo movements.
  • Support Manager and team with day-to-day operational procedures.

WHAT YOU NEED | Ngā pūkenga me whēako

  • Practical operational experience, ideally with exposure to moving plant and equipment.
  • Experience developing safety improvements and risk assessments.
  • Great Customer Service skills with a passion for success.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to adopt and use new software.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding Multi-Cargo operations.
  • A full class one drivers' licence.
  • Fire warden and first aid training is a bonus along with regulatory bodies such as MPI or Customs NZ.

The Multi Cargo team rotate through a seamless roster pattern throughout the year. Office hours are Monday - Friday 07:00 - 23:00, and Saturday - Sunday 07:00 - 15:00.
As operations are 24/7 at Multi Cargo, there are times when staff are required outside these hours.
