Job Description

What you’ll be doing:

  • Values diverse perspectives, is committed to reflective practice with children, and is eager to grow as both a learner and educator
  • Engaged in exploring the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Child-centered care, including nurturing, responsive, and culturally sensitive care
  • Responsive program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Promotes an inclusive environment
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment: launder bibs and cloths, sanitize toys and equipment, and set up the physical space for daily activities
  • Follow each child’s individual daily schedule with consistency and care
  • Track, monitor and document each child’s day, including:
    • Daily routines, locations, and needs
    • Food and liquid intake
    • Health, emotional well-being, and developmental progress
    • Writing daily updates, developmental observations, and progress notes for team members and families
  • Strong communication and relationship-building with children, team members, and parents/guardian
  • Other duties as required

What you’ll need:

  • The successful candidate will have an ECE Post Basic-IT/SN Certificate
  • Valid Food Safe certification (Level 1)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
  • Must be able and willing to work at any of the five child care locations as required by the department.
  • One (1) to two (2) years minimum experience working in licensed group Infant Toddler centre
  • Knowledge and practical experience with current educational practices and theories
  • Familiarity with co-constructed curriculum design and documentation processes
  • Working knowledge of the Early learning Framework
  • The successful applicant will be a team player, interested in maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied/extended hours as required by the centres would be an asset.

Pay Rate: Starting at $25.89 per hour plus $6 wage enhancement for qualified ECEs

Start date: March 2026 (date to be confirmed)
