Position Summary:
The Office of the Wet'suwet'en is seeking 5 Clan Liaisons that will provide leadership, strategic direction and expertise to the clan to ensure the successful communications, development and implementation of all Office of the Wet'suwet'en projects, programs and initiatives. This individual will promote the Office of the Wet'suwet'en's vision, and work with the community, businesses, and government agencies to support development activities and promote awareness of the clan and its services and projects.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and implementation of various special projects, programs and initiatives for the clan.
- Act as the point of contact and liaise between partners, and various other community and business organizations as well as the general public.
- Continuously communicate Office of the Wet'suwet'en's vision, strategies, projects, programs and services to build awareness.
- Provide coordination for all aspects of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of special projects and programs.
- Monitor community needs and trends so that these may be reflected in the projects, programs and services provided.
- Utilize community data to assess effectiveness and success of projects, programs and services currently in place.
- Assess and provide reports on increased or additional service needed.
- Build and maintain positive relationships and contact with our 6 – six Wet’suwet’en communities, as well as their representatives, the clan members and community and business leaders.
- Utilize established contacts in order to increase public awareness of Yintah management, issues and provide awareness of special projects that are affecting their territory.
- Assist in the development of communication and multi-media marketing strategies to promote awareness, as well as the development of written materials such as brochures, working closely with our Communications/IT supports.
- Prepare and present annual summary reports of activities and results.
- Prepare and submit written proposals and additional documents as required.
- Coordinate meetings, conferences and public speaking engagements in an effort to educate the community and raise awareness.
- Make decisions, within an ever-changing set of circumstances, in pursuit of the stated mission/purpose, goals and objectives of the Organization.
- Positively promote and maintain the vision, mission and policies of Office of the Wet'suwet'en and the clan members it supports.
- Continually research and seek out innovative ideas to promote organizational and cause awareness.
- Provides leadership, professional resources and support to the individuals Office of the Wet'suwet'en supports, other agencies, community contacts, and designated Wet’suwet’en communities.
- Participate in educational and training opportunities applicable to the position.
- Other duties shall be assigned as required.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and experience in our Wet’suwet’en Cultures, practices and implementations of our Anuk’nuwet’en (Our Laws).
- Familiarity with available community resources in our service delivery area.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Ability to work effectively within a team approach to Clan Membership.
- Ability to access funding opportunities.
- Ability to work independently as well as demonstrated teamwork and team building skills.
- A well-defined sense of mediation, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required.
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Able to effectively communicate through Wiguus (respectfully) both verbally and in writing.
- Politically and culturally sensitive.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to privacy.
Preferred Skills:
- Constant interaction with the clan members you are representing.
- Travel may be required.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
