Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional New Patient Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in ensuring a smooth patient intake process, managing referrals, and coordinating with medical providers. The ideal candidate will have strong office experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and familiarity with managed care and insurance verification processes. Responsibilities
- Manage new patient referrals from initial contact through appointment scheduling
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including managed care plans and insurance eligibility
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and medical records
- Collect, organize, and maintain accurate medical records and referral documentation
- Coordinate with medical providers regarding CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding for billing purposes
- Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and coverage options
- Schedule appointments and follow-up visits efficiently within the office system
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures to facilitate seamless communication
- Support the office team in administrative tasks related to new patient onboarding
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or dental office experience preferred
- Knowledge of managed care, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and insurance verification processes
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of medical records
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical documentation
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies
- Proficiency in office software applications and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Medical terminology knowledge is essential for accurate data entry and communication
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
