Position Summary
The Circulation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of newspaper distribution, delivery operations, subscriber services, and circulation growth initiatives. This role ensures timely and accurate delivery of print publications, manages carrier networks and distribution staff, maintains subscriber satisfaction, and develops strategies to increase circulation revenue and readership. The Circulation Manager works closely with editorial, advertising, production, and customer service teams to support the organization's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution & Delivery Operations
· Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily newspaper distribution and delivery activities.
· Ensure newspapers are delivered accurately and on schedule to subscribers, retail outlets, and distribution points.
· Monitor delivery performance and resolve operational issues promptly.
· Develop and maintain efficient distribution routes and delivery schedules.
· Manage relationships with independent contractors, carriers, and distribution vendors.
Subscriber Services
· Oversee subscription fulfillment processes, including new subscriptions, renewals, suspensions, and cancellations.
· Ensure high-quality customer service and timely resolution of subscriber complaints.
· Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and implement service improvements.
Circulation Growth & Revenue
· Develop and implement strategies to increase print circulation and subscriber retention.
· Analyze circulation trends, subscriber data, and market opportunities.
· Coordinate promotional campaigns and subscription marketing initiatives.
· Support efforts to maximize circulation-related revenue streams.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
· Monitor expenses related to distribution and transportation.
Compliance & Safety
· Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
· Promote safe work practices for distribution personnel and contractors.
· Investigate and address delivery incidents, claims, and operational concerns.
Qualifications
Education
· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Logistics, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
· 3–5 years of experience in circulation management, distribution operations, logistics, newspaper publishing, or related field.
· Previous supervisory or management experience required.
· Experience managing delivery networks, contractors, or field personnel preferred.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong leadership and team management abilities.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of distribution logistics and route management.
· Strong customer service orientation.
· Proficiency with circulation management software and Microsoft Office applications.
· Ability to analyze data and prepare operational reports.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to travel between distribution facilities and delivery locations.
· Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
· Ability to work in warehouse, distribution, and office environments.

· Carrier retention and operational efficiency.
Salary Range
$50,000
