We are currently recruiting for Night Auditors to work in Queenstown.
Queenstown – Known as the “Adventure City”, Queenstown provides the opportunity to test your adrenaline limits through the wide range of outdoor activities in the South Island such as bungy jumping and skiing. Located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, explore a scenic hike offering views of the Southern Alps.
Purpose
As Night Auditor, you’re responsible for cashiering, allocations, check-ins and check-outs and attending to general customer enquiries during the overnight operation. It is the responsibility of the Night Auditor to ensure that the day-to-day operations audits balance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as a representative of the hotel and be responsible for the hotel operationally in the absence of the Heads of Department and General/Hotel Manager.
- Actively contribute to the attainment of hotel objectives and targets as outlined by your manager.
- Greet guests by name where possible and ensure a smooth check-in/check-out process for the hotel.
- Responsible for account queries, register audits for shift, shift closing and account adjustments for the shift.
- Must ensure month-end activities are handled correctly.
- Responsible for completing and maintaining the Night Audit process and the daily balancing of the day's transactions within the hotel.
- Responsible for the daily compilation and distribution of requested reports to department heads.
- Deal with difficult guests and or situations and strive for a win-win outcome.
- Maintain effective communication at the end of shift to ensure a smooth transition for the next shift.
- Assist in training new team members with the management team.
- Responsible for ensuring all internal and external chargeback charges are posted correctly.
- Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the lobby, reception area and the front of the building.
- Assist and action any guest queries relating to housekeeping and maintenance when required.
- Program and execute wake-up calls, collect room service breakfast orders, and distribute daily newspapers.
- Ensure the orderly and clutter-free appearance of the front desk and assist in maintaining the immaculate physical appearance of the hotel lobby.
- Maintain clear and concise communications with all departments and management regarding special requests, guest requirements, and general hotel events.
- Perform regular security checks around the property, including floor and property walks, and collect any leftover trays / rubbish outside guest rooms.
- Assist with room service preparation and deliveries when required.
- Assist with bag drops or pick up for guests and perform other porter duties as required.
- This isn’t an exhaustive list – your Manager may have other reasonable tasks or instructions on occasion
- You have at least 1 year of relevant work experience in a comparable role at hotels or similar operations.
- Shift work will be required and may include early and late shifts as per Hotel operations. Flexibility is required to work Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster.
- Weekend and public holiday shifts are required. You can physically meet the demands for this role including constant standing, frequent computer and phone use involving repetitive and sustained use of the upper limbs and occasional lifting, pushing and moving of objects up to 20 kgs
- Good communication and customer service skills is highly desired.
- Good computer literacy and adaptability to new technology is highly desired.
