Ko wai koe | About You

We are seeking non-training Surgical Registrars to join us from 28 July 2025

The first 6 months of this position will be in General Surgery with runs for the 2026 RMO to be confirmed through run allocations during the 2025 RMO year

Non-training Surgical Registrars rotate through the below services:

• Cardiothoracic
• General Surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Ophthalmology
• Otolaryngology
• Orthopaedics
• Paediatrics
• Urology
• Vascular, Endovascular and Transplant

Runs are 6 months long with the majority of runs providing points for surgical training applications.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills & Experience

• Completed PGY2 year or equivalent
• Completion of your General Surgical Science Examination (GSSE) would be advantageous
• A keen passion for surgery
• You will have experience in a number of Surgical Services.
• Knowledge and commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the principles can be applied to health.
• A willingness to grow and further develop an equity lens and skillset, both to assist Māori and minority groups.
• You must be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility by visiting the Council - s website at www.mcnz.org.nz
