At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.
Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. Community Description
Northland Kindergarten is nestled in the Northland suburb, surrounded by beautiful native bush. We welcome children aged 2-6 to our six-hour session from Northland and many of our neighbouring suburbs.
A key focus of our programme is exploring te taiao, the natural environment and on fostering dispositions of curiosity and kaitiakitanga, as we care for Papatūānuku and Tane Māhuta. Our ngahere hikoi program involves weekly walks with tamariki and a supportive group of whānau.
Our teaching team has designed an exciting and challenging environment that encourages exploration through various play areas. We are well-resourced with a large, spacious outdoor area, fostering a learning environment that helps children become capable and confident learners.
As a part-time teacher your total hours of work will be 32 hours per week, worked as follows:
Monday: 8-4:30 with 1/2 unpaid break
Tuesday: 8-3 with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Wednesday: 8-4:30 with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Thursday: 11:45- 4:30
Friday: 10-2:45

- Promotes an environment where the diversity and uniqueness of all children are accepted and valued, and is responsive to the culture, language, and identity of our community
- Demonstrates and articulates their knowledge of research and pedagogy, relating to learning within a sociocultural framework.
- Effectively implements our learning programme using assessment, planning, and evaluation.
