An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated and innovative nurse for the role of Nurse Specialist with the Adult Congenital Heart Disease service (ACHD).

Working as nurse specialist within the Adult Congenital Heart Disease service, you will be part of a dynamic, enthusiastic, positive and passionate multi-disciplinary team. You will provide specialist nursing advice, care and expertise, both in direct patient care and in support of other staff caring for Adults with congenital heart disease.

The adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) service at Te Toka Tumai Auckland provides a national service for patients over the age of 15 with congenital heart disease. This patient population includes the majority of patients who have undergone cardiac surgery during childhood. The ACHD service is part of the Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Service with inpatient care being delivered on the Adult wards of Auckland City Hospital.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • be an experienced Paediatric or Adult Cardiology registered nurse with 5 years’ experience and will either have or be eligible for registration with NZ Nursing Council.
  • either have or be working towards a post graduate diploma or masters qualification
  • have proficient or expert level Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio or equivalent
  • be able to play a strategic role within the service to ensure service and organisational objectives are met
  • have excellent communication and problem solving skills with the ability to work in a bi-cultural environment
