Nursery Cook

We are looking to recruit an experienced Cook for our friendly children's nursery. The successful candidate will be required to work 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday with an unpaid 1 hour lunch break each day and an additional paid hour 1-2 days a week for deep cleaning duties as required.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a solo position and be required to run the kitchen completely, including: preparing, cooking/baking simple healthy meals for up to 70 children aged 3 mths to 4 years. The role also involves undertaking all cleaning duties, menu planning, on-line ordering, opening and closing checks, and end of week routines on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities will also include:

  • Preparing meals and snacks in a safe, hygienic and timely manner.
  • Ensure that all children with dietary requirements/allergies are catered for in compliance with our company policy and Health & Safety requirements including completion of all required records.
  • Under guidance of the Nursery Manager, be responsible for meal planning/menus and food ordering ensuring it is in line with the agreed catering budgets.
  • Maintain adequate stores and food stuffs in appropriate storage conditions.
  • Carry out daily opening and closing checks.
  • Ensure that all areas of the kitchen including all kitchen equipment are kept clean and orderly, carrying out all required cleaning duties, ensuring that all records are completed on time.
  • Clean and defrost fridge and freezer at designated intervals when required.
  • Observe high standards of food hygiene during the preparation, cooking and serving of all foods.
  • Work in a safe and organised manner adhering to health & safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain the Safer Food, Better Business documentation on a daily basis to comply with food safety management procedures and food hygiene regulations, including food/probe check temperatures etc.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and personal appearance in accordance with the Company’s hygiene policy.
  • Possess a Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate and/or undertake relevant training as required.
  • Carry out other relevant kitchen tasks and duties as necessary/required.

Pay: From £11.44 per hour
