The Role
The position manages the day-to-day delivery of nursing services within the Forensic Hospital.
The position is responsible and accountable for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of nursing services for persons admitted to the unit and will oversee the delivery of these services.
The Nursing Unit Manager must ensure that mental health services are safely, effectively and efficiently delivered in this environment. Continuous mental health/physical health and risk assessment must occur as part of the comprehensive assessment, care coordination and discharge planning process.
The position holder is required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other health streams including: Women’s Health, Adolescent Health, Primary Health, Drug & Alcohol, Aboriginal Health and Population Health, as well as Local Health Districts.
Essential Criteria
- Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Tertiary qualification in health management or working towards or a combination of study and work.

A mandatory and comprehensive two-week, full-time orientation is provided for all new staff at Forensic Hospital. All days are paid. The next intake date will be on 12-23 October 2026.
