- Running cases up to and including the Supreme court to include cases where ESB initiates litigation
- Handling a large caseload of files and achieving optimum outcomes; retaining proper reserves on litigation files
- Working with and proactively advising the business, including senior stakeholders, on a wide range of issues relating to claims/disputes and significant projects/cases without supervision
- Advising proactively on matters of law relating to claims/disputes using and calling on significant prior experience gained on similar matters / transactions
- Applying in depth knowledge and understanding of ESB's business and operational requirements
- Proactively liaising with other specialist areas within ESB (including other specialist legal advisers within the legal department) to ensure that Legal plays an enabling role in assisting the business meet their strategic goals and business plans
- Liaising with external stakeholders as required e.g., ESB's insurers and auditor
- Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years post-qualification experience in litigation.
- Demonstrates significant expertise in defence litigation, preferably associated with the energy sector or another utility
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in managing contentious matters with a solutions driven approach, delivering a high-quality service and capable of meeting demanding timelines
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills & sound commercial judgement
- Understands the business issues and provides tailored legal advice as appropriate.
- Demonstrates stakeholder management skills
- Well-developed project and case management skills
- Strong IT skills and experience in using a practice management system

Salary
€83,000 to €98,000 per annum.
