About the Role
If you are an NZREX doctor wishing to gain general registration though a primary care pathway in the Waikato district, we are accepting expressions of interest. The first six months of training will be at the Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand in generalist attachments such as General Medicine, Respiratory, OPR, Cardiology, Mental Health or General Surgery, followed by primary care placements.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Waikato serves a largest Māori population and third largest Pacific population in Aotearoa New Zealand. Waikato Hospital in Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary, teaching hospitals with over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. Clinical specialities include Women’s and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, and Mental Health and Addiction services. Waikato Hospital is the Te Manawa Taki.
About you
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for the Primary Care Prevocational Training Pathway towards General Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) applicants must:
- Have passed the NZREX exam in the last 5-years.
- Worked as a doctor for a minimum of 12 months
- Have New Zealand Residency or Citizenship and be currently residing in New Zealand.
- Be fully vaccinated.
- Hold a full NZ driver’s licence
You will need to provide the following information:
- An up-to-date CV
- A copy of your medical degree
- Three references
- A copy of your passport and visa/resident details
- Current police vetting results
- Full or restricted drivers licence / International drivers licence.
