Join V/Line as an Occupation Coordinator and apply your outstanding business administration and stakeholder management skills to make a significant impact in a dynamic and supportive team.
What is a Rail Occupation?
A rail occupation involves the planned closure of a section of the rail network to allow for maintenance, upgrades, or other essential works. This ensures that the rail infrastructure remains safe and efficient for all users.
About the Role
As an Occupation Coordinator, you’re at the heart of our operations, managing administrative and data-heavy tasks to keep our rail network running smoothly.
You'll ensure safety with your keen organisational skills and attention to detail, using your Excel expertise to track data and occupation events.
You'll work confidently and decisively, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. If you enjoy coordinating meetings and presenting information clearly, and thrive in a structured environment, this role is perfect for you.
Please note, this work requires you to be available to work occasional night & weekend shifts, and be able to attend work sites prior to, and during, the occupation.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate internal and external work groups, facilitate planning and interface meetings, and negotiate access and integration with various work groups.
- Ensure document compliance, carry out risk assessments, and develop plans for return to service.
- Allocate and manage resources.
- Evaluate quotes, provide purchase orders, and seek invoices.
- Identify arising issues, mitigate risks, solve problems, and track lessons learned from each closure.
About You
The complexity and high demands of this role are well suited to anyone already building their career in rail. A thorough understanding of the Victorian Rail Network—including knowledge of rail operating systems, Safeworking, and train control—will be advantageous.
You might currently be working in transport in operations, Safeworking, maintenance, scheduling, planning, or work readiness.
Alternatively, you might be working in project management, logistics, or construction, where your capable business administration skills would transfer well into the Occupation Coordinator role.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a role responsible for complex and/or high-volume business administration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Teams, and Planner.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presenting.
- Confident decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Efficient time management skills, including the ability to prioritise work to meet business objectives.
- Valid Victoria Driver Licence.
What We Offer
Salary: Clerk C1 (Base annual salary $78,103) to Clerk C3 ($93,467), in accordance with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2023.
Benefits: 4 weeks’ annual leave, 17.5% leave loading, super, and free myki for metro and regional travel.
We’ll support you with flexible working, wellbeing programs, professional development opportunities, and a constructive, positive, and effective team culture. You will be joining a dynamic team of professionals who are genuinely committed to working with you to do great work and be your best.
