About this role | Mo tenei turanga
The purpose of the Ouccpational Therapist is to provide effective, efficient and equitable occupational therapy services in accordance with the goals, objectives and policies of the Ministry of Education.
You will work part of a transdisciplinary team helping students to meet their educational goals through assessment and intervention planning. You will be passionate and committed to supporting students with complex learning and disability needs to engage in education.
The role involves:
- Providing support and guidance to schools, teachers and whanau to improve outcomes for children with additional learning needs.
- Designing specialist intervention plans individual and/or group plans for children and young people.
- Assessing, collaboratively planning, supporting and monitoring the implementation of plans.
- Facilitiating access to wider services and support, in response to individual need.
- Implement effective interventions as part of a transdisciplinary team.
Salary range: $69,966 - $106,016 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Degree in occupational therapy, or its accepted equivalent as required by the New Zealand Board of Occupational Therapists.
- Registration with the New Zealand Board of Occupational Therapists and a current practising certificate.
- Postgraduate experience with at least one year in paediatrics or neurology
- Experience in a complex organisation.
- Experience building relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
- The ability to build capability in others through coaching, proactively sharing knowledge and expertise.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Learning Support is a critical part of the Te Mahau, Te Tai Whenua. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.
Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, whanau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and Maori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.
