About the role

An exciting parental leave opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Therapist to step into the role of Allied Health Team Leader / Grade 3 Occupational Therapist within our Hospital In The Home (HITH) team. Primarily based at Maroondah Hospital, this role combines clinical allied health leadership with hands-on occupational therapy practice, offering the opportunity to shape both patient outcomes and team performance.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced clinician with strong expertise in occupational therapy assessment and intervention, complemented by demonstrated leadership capability. In this dual role, you will provide senior clinical care to a mixed general medicine / surgical caseload while also leading, supporting and developing a team of allied health clinicians. You will oversee day-to-day operations of the team, support staff supervision and professional development, contribute to workforce planning, and ensure high standards of clinical practice are maintained across the service.

As Team Leader, you will play a key role in service coordination, quality improvement and change management, working closely with the broader multidisciplinary team and the HITH Nurse Manager (NM) to drive positive outcomes for patients and staff. As a Grade 3 clinician, you will provide expert clinical input, complex case consultation, and mentorship to less experienced staff.

You will be an enthusiastic and adaptable leader with excellent communication, organisational and clinical reasoning skills, sound judgement, and a genuine commitment to patient-centred care and staff wellbeing. Experience in leading teams, managing competing priorities and supporting change within a healthcare setting will be highly regarded.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to build on your clinical and leadership expertise, supported by a collaborative multidisciplinary team and the HITH NM.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:
Minimum seven years’ clinical experience in Occupational Therapy.
Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership in specialty practice area.
Demonstrated best practice in client assessment and intervention, including evidence of advanced clinical skills and client centred practice.

Well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional competence of other Occupational Therapy staff.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify service delivery to foster innovation and evidence-based practice.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, and a proven ability to relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation.
Current Victorian Drivers Licence.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
