Join V/Lines Technical Systems team as an OCS Cyber Security Technician! Are you passionate about cyber security and looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment? V/Line is seeking an OCS Cyber Security Technician to enhance our cyber security operations within the Asset Management OCS portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of security technology and contribute to the safety and integrity of our systems.


About the role

The OCS Cyber Security Technician will be responsible for implementing technical controls and risk-based treatments that support our cyber security management. This role focuses on the day-to-day management of security technologies, including policy enforcement, project design, and cloud security architectures. You will provide vital technical support across engineering, maintenance, and operations, ensuring the security of all OCS assets and infrastructure.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Implement and manage technical security controls and changes for OCS operations.
  • Conduct reviews and endorsements of cyber security designs and configurations.
  • Monitor and maintain the security of OCS assets and infrastructure.
  • Identify and apply necessary firmware patches and upgrades.
  • Develop automation for monitoring and reporting cyber security incidents.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure effective security across environments.
  • Perform threat assessments and analyse vulnerabilities in OT and IT networks.
  • Enhance logging capabilities and review security of ICS and SCADA systems.
  • Drive compliance, efficiency, and contribute to business planning and performance targets.

About you

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable individual for the OCS Cyber Security Technician role. You will have a strong commitment to evolving security standards and the ability to tackle new challenges effectively. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking, ensuring the security and integrity of our operational technology environments.


Knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, cyber security, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in the OT/ICS industry.
  • Experience in security roles within industrial organisations.
  • Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST).
  • Proficient in system/network administration and automation.
  • Experience with SIEM tools and incident response.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and security infrastructure.
