Position Summary:

West Street CCLC is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to serve in a dual role as Family Worker and Administrative Assistant. This position supports families by connecting them with essential resources and providing consistent communication, while also assisting with administrative duties to ensure smooth daily operations of the center.

Key Responsibilities:Family Worker Responsibilities (50%)

  • Serve as a liaison between families and the child care center.
  • Conduct family intakes, enrollment, and orientation processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date family files including income verifications, physicals, immunizations, and other required documents.
  • Provide case management and referrals to families for community resources (housing, food, health, mental health, etc.).
  • Plan and support parent engagement events and workshops throughout the year.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics when working with families.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and support individualized services as needed.
  • Conduct home visits and family conferences as required by Head Start and/or OCFS regulations.

Administrative Assistant Responsibilities (50%)

  • Greet families, staff, and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain office supplies, copies, and forms; assist with ordering and inventory.
  • Support classroom and program staff with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, attendance tracking, and printing.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and maintain organized records.
  • Assist with compliance documentation and follow-up for child and staff records.
  • Provide translation and communication support for non-English speaking families (if bilingual).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Center Director or FCE Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in early childhood, social work, or office administration is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English) highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort using databases.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must meet background clearance requirements and be eligible to work in child care settings.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Work Location: In person
