Life Saving Victoria is Victoria's peak water safety and lifesaving organisation built on the proud traditions and programs of our founding organisations, the Royal Life Saving Society – Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia.
Lifesaving has been an integral part of the Victorian way of life since 1904. Today LSV is a multifaceted volunteer-based community organisation with a focus on public safety and community wellbeing

Officer – Education Programs
We are thrilled to offer an incredible opportunity to join our dynamic Education team and make a meaningful impact with our education programs.
Based at our awesome Port Melbourne Head Office and reporting to the Education Programs Coordinator, this full-time position will have you actively supporting our schools and community groups across a variety of locations, from the beaches and pools to inland waterways, schools, and online platforms across the State.
As an Education Program Officer, you’ll play a key role is the success of the Life Saving Victoria education programs and resources This includes leading engaging educational initiatives at aquatic venues and schools, as well as assisting with the scheduling and booking of programs throughout the year. Your work will help deliver, administer, and promote life-saving education, making a real difference in communities across the state.
The role involves collaborating with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, requiring excellent client management skills and proactive engagement with others. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing top – notch administrative support, ensuring smooth program bookings and maintaining strong customer relationships through excellent communications and customer service.
- You’ll assist casual staff in delivering lifesaving education programs, including excursions, incursions, and events, across a range of venues such as beaches, pools, inland waterways, schools, and online. This support is especially critical during Terms 1, 4, and the January school holidays Play a vital role in ensuring that programs are engaging, relevant, and impactful for our audiences, while providing valuable feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- You’ll work closely with the Education Coordinator to recruit, mentor, and monitor Education Instructors, Team Leaders and Program Leaders helping to enhance program efficiency and quality.
- Champion the Promotion of LSV’s lifesaving education programs to ensure a consistent presence at schools, beaches and inland waterways year-round.
- Conduct site visits to venues and complete necessary checklists to ensure all locations meet program standards.
- Respond to enquiries related to the swimming and water safety education, providing expertise and support to our stakeholders.
Who are you?
You are an experienced officer, with strong administration skills and a continuous improvement mind-set. You will be an exceptional collaborator who is comfortable communicating at all levels. You will have excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
Your enthusiastic, approachable, and can-do attitude will be the basis of your success in this role.
- Community Surf Lifesaving Certificate or Bronze Medallion (or willing to obtain).
- First Aid and CPR qualifications.
- Must have or be able to obtain an employee Working with Children Check.
- Drivers’ license and flexibility with working hours.
- Demonstrated experience delivering education programs to people of all abilities.
- Experience in project or program administration, with the ability to meet deadlines, demonstrate problem solving and decision-making skills, as well as sound computer skills including MS Office suite.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision, lead teams as well as part of a group / team.
Previous experience as an officer in a sporting, emergency service or volunteer-based organisation and knowledge of or interest in water safety, lifesaving, Life Saving Victoria, Surf Life Saving Australia and Royal Life Saving Society Australia is highly regarded
