Openmetadata Consultant

Location: Hybrid (preferably onsite, remote possible)
Duration: 3 months, extension possible

We are currently supporting one of our key clients in the evaluation and early-stage deployment of OpenMetadata, an open-source data catalog and governance solution. To support this initiative, we are seeking a seasoned OpenMetadata Consultant to assess the platform, run targeted proof-of-concept scenarios, and deliver strategic recommendations for future adoption.

Your Mission

You’ll play a pivotal role in helping the client understand how OpenMetadata fits into their enterprise ecosystem. This includes:

1. Platform Evaluation

  • Conduct a deep-dive analysis of OpenMetadata’s architecture, features, and customization potential.
  • Assess the platform’s suitability for both analytical (e.g., reporting, BI) and operational (e.g., data pipelines, system integration) use cases.
  • Advise on interoperability with tools like Snowflake, DBT, Power BI, SAP, and others.

2. Use Case Definition & POC Delivery

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and shape high-value proof-of-concept use cases - such as lineage tracking, metadata ingestion, or data quality monitoring.
  • Set up and configure OpenMetadata to reflect real business scenarios.
  • Showcase the POC results and evaluate their effectiveness in terms of usability, scalability, and business relevance.

3. Strategic Advisory & Roadmap Planning

  • Summarize your findings in a clear and actionable recommendation report.
  • Offer guidance on governance structure, integration strategies, and resource requirements for future phases.
What We’re Looking For
  • Practical experience working with OpenMetadata - from setup and configuration to advanced customization.
  • Solid data engineering background with exposure to modern data tools such as DBT, Airflow, Snowflake, Spark.
  • Expertise in metadata modeling, data lineage, and catalog structuring for both technical and business audiences.
  • Strong grasp of data governance principles, including data quality and metadata management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical findings to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in large organizations or regulated environments is an asset.
  • Fluent English is required; French or German is a plus.
  • Work permit in Luxembourg is required.

If you’re a consultant who thrives at the intersection of data strategy, technical implementation, and business impact—this is a great opportunity to contribute to a meaningful transformation.
