We are seeking a highly motivated Operational Control Manager to oversee and enhance our firm’s control framework, ensuring operational risks are effectively managed within our financial services environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks and process efficiencies while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices across our Operational Departments.

Working hours:

Full-time: 35 hours per week, core days are Mon – Fri. 9am to 5pm.

As we are a 24/7 operations team an element of outside business hours/days and might be expected with this role.

What you’ll do:

Operational Risk & Control Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective operational control framework across business processes.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks to safeguard the organization from financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.
  • Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational control effectiveness.
  • Lead risk control assessments (RCAs) and ensure timely remediation of identified issues.
  • Cost control of claims by monitoring and highlighting processes and behaviours that affect loss ratios

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and external audit requirements.
  • Work closely with compliance and legal teams to align control measures with regulatory expectations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and implementing corrective actions.

Process & Control Improvements:

  • Manage and oversee organizational processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyse existing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.
  • Collaborate with various departments to streamline operations and integrate new processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational processes by identifying inefficiencies, recommending, developing and implementing enhancements.
  • Implement robust internal controls and ensure best practices in operational risk management.
  • Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, and governance documentation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:

  • Collaborate with senior management, business units, and risk teams to enhance operational resilience.
  • Provide regular reports on control effectiveness, risk exposure, and mitigation strategies to leadership.
  • Lead training and awareness programs to promote a strong risk and control culture across the organization.

What We're Looking for:

  • APA or CIP qualifications are a requirement for this role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
