We are seeking a highly motivated Operational Control Manager to oversee and enhance our firm’s control framework, ensuring operational risks are effectively managed within our financial services environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks and process efficiencies while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices across our Operational Departments.
Working hours:
Full-time: 35 hours per week, core days are Mon – Fri. 9am to 5pm.
As we are a 24/7 operations team an element of outside business hours/days and might be expected with this role.
What you’ll do:
Operational Risk & Control Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective operational control framework across business processes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks to safeguard the organization from financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational control effectiveness.
- Lead risk control assessments (RCAs) and ensure timely remediation of identified issues.
- Cost control of claims by monitoring and highlighting processes and behaviours that affect loss ratios
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and external audit requirements.
- Work closely with compliance and legal teams to align control measures with regulatory expectations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and implementing corrective actions.
Process & Control Improvements:
- Manage and oversee organizational processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Analyse existing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.
- Collaborate with various departments to streamline operations and integrate new processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational processes by identifying inefficiencies, recommending, developing and implementing enhancements.
- Implement robust internal controls and ensure best practices in operational risk management.
- Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
- Collaborate with senior management, business units, and risk teams to enhance operational resilience.
- Provide regular reports on control effectiveness, risk exposure, and mitigation strategies to leadership.
- Lead training and awareness programs to promote a strong risk and control culture across the organization.
What We're Looking for:
- APA or CIP qualifications are a requirement for this role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
