About the Team

Within Transpower the Energy Market Services (EMS) team provides specialist data management, market development and operational services that support energy markets in New Zealand. We develop and operate specialist systems and processes that are used for the collection and transformation of data into meaningful information for the wider business and industry.

EMS services include Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) Manager service, Gas Allocation Agent (GAA), market information exchange (em6), meter data administration and issuer for International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC) in New Zealand. These operational services form a key component of EMS strategy to maintain and broaden its services, with a focus on supporting the developing market environment.

About the opportunity

As Operations Analyst you will primarily be focused on supporting a portfolio of core EMS services. You will take on day to day operational support responsibilities, leveraging the skills of the platform specialists and other teams around you where needed.

You will provide revenue metering services to customers by maintaining and operating meter data management and reporting systems along with providing support services under Gas (Downstream Reconciliation) Rules, FTR and other EMS services. Outputs you will generate must be accurate and timely so that the business complies with the Electricity Industry Participation Code (Code) and gas market rules, and EMS delivers to service level agreements.

What are we looking for?

With a service support background and having developed skills and gained experience working in complex environments with diverse technologies and suppliers, you will be an effective communicator with a keen eye for detail and drive to ensure accuracy.

You will be comfortable running incident and problem management processes and when necessary, be adept at pulling the right people together from across various teams to close out issues.

With a basic understanding of IT architecture, both infrastructure and applications within your experience, skills and knowledge you will be experienced working with:

• Data collection and reporting systems (electricity or gas market systems would be ideal, but not essential)
• Database structures and SQL
• Data and process analysis
• Both technical and non-technical people at all levels of the organisation
• Basic understanding of IT architecture, both infrastructure and applications

Your CV and Cover letter will demonstrate:

With a relevant service support background, we are seeking:

• Minimum 4+ years' hands-on experience as an Operations / Applications Analyst
• An understanding of system release management and testing
• Demonstrated experience identifying root cause of issues through technical analysis and by leveraging logging and monitoring tools
• Experience working with vendors delivering and supporting components of solutions

The following would be advantageous and favourably assessed:

• Knowledge and understanding of New Zealand electricity and gas market rules
• Understanding of the configuration and operation of the revenue metering equipment
• Understanding of the preparation and delivery of electricity industry settlement data
• Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems
