About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to partner with the Clinical Directors to lead and manage our Haematology, Infusion, Renal, and Rheumatology services. The “why” is our patients- ensuring high-quality, cost-effective care for patients and families/whānau while being an engaged and contributing member of the divisional management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Partnership: Collaborate with the Clinical Directors to ensure services meet patient outcomes and experience priorities.
- Service Delivery: Oversee day-to-day operations, develop operational plans, and ensure services align with Health New Zealand’s values and strategic direction.
- Strategy and Planning: Translate Health New Zealand's strategic priorities into operational plans and achieve performance targets/indicators.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, manage risks, and enhance service delivery.
- Financial Management: Achieve targets within budget, analyze financial performance, develop resource plans, construct business cases to support service change.
- Leadership: Role model development and leadership of a high-performing team, implement succession planning, and foster an inclusive service culture.
- Collaboration: Engage in cross-service activities, regional projects, and maintain broad operational knowledge.

Skills and Attributes:
- Strong relationship and culture building skills with stakeholders.
- Clear understanding of the tenants of operational management and efficiency while remaining focused on the “why” of patient care
- Financial analysis and budgeting skills.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate complex information.
- Flexible and resilient approach to managing work pressures.
- High-level facilitation and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Health or Healthcare Management, 4-5 years of healthcare sector experience, demonstrated leadership, culture and change management experience.
- Preferred: Postgraduate qualification in Health, Healthcare Management, or relevant Management (Business/Finance), leadership experience in a clinical setting, and active community involvement.
