Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ophthalmology and retail sales, along with a comprehensive understanding of optical products and services. As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting with eyewear selection, and ensuring that all optical needs are met with professionalism and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.
• Conduct fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses to ensure proper fit and comfort.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and optical prescriptions.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive eye care.
• Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, as well as the importance of regular eye exams.
• Perform basic laboratory tasks such as lens edging and frame repairs.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
• Stay current with advancements in optical technology and products.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Experience in retail sales, including retail management and retail math skills.
• Familiarity with optical experience, including fitting lenses and frames.
• Previous laboratory experience is preferred; knowledge of aseptic techniques is a plus.
• Experience working in pediatrics or senior care environments is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining attention to detail.
