We are a busy optometric practice on the Danforth focused on providing excellent eye care in a safe and welcoming environment to all of our patients.
Job description
I am currently seeking a friendly and outgoing individual with good communication skills to join our tight-knit team as an optometric assistant/receptionist.
Requirements:
- Self motivation: A quick learner who takes initiative to complete tasks independently.
- Communication skills: Able to interact clearly with people in a professional manner. Must have excellent command of verbal and written English.
- Organization skills: Must be detail oriented, computer literate, and keep accurate records to produce information quickly.
- Multi-tasking skills: Able to take on different roles and responsibilities, to keep things organized, punctual, and running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.
- Time management skills: Complete a wide variety of responsibilities throughout the day and to prioritize important tasks.
- Team Player: Needs to be able to work as a team with other staff members to maintain patient flow, and can also work independently as needed.
- Interpersonal skills: Be attentive and personable with patients. Keep a positive and cheerful attitude at all times with patients and other team members.
Duties/responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Greeting patients entering the office and ensuring safety protocols are being followed
- Performing preliminary testing and operating optometric equipment including retina scan, OCT, visual field analyzer
- Educating patients about contact lens wear, including insertion and removal training
- Responding to phone calls/emails, schedule appointments, create invoices for services/products rendered
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitization protocols in all areas of the clinic
- General administrative duties
We work in a close-knit environment and fit is important to us. Previous experience is an asset but not a requirement, as training for all duties/responsibilities will be provided.
Starting hourly wage: $19+ per hour, commensurate with experience.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Toronto, ON M4K 1N4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Ophthalmic Technicians & Assistants: 1 year (preferred)
