As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated Orthodontic Auxiliary, Dental Hygienist, or Oral Health Therapist (OHT) to join our team.

Position Overview

This role will begin at 1 day per week, with the opportunity to expand to up to 4 days per week as the practice continues to grow. The successful candidate will work across both clinic locations and will support the delivery of high‑quality orthodontic care under the direction of our orthodontist.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties

• Provide orthodontic treatment within your scope of practice
• Place, adjust, and remove orthodontic appliances
• Take high‑quality intraoral photographs, radiographs, and digital scans (iTero)
• Deliver oral hygiene instruction and reinforcement
• Conduct orthodontic reviews, wire changes, and retainer checks as delegated
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Assist chairside during complex procedures
• Uphold strict infection control and sterilisation protocols

Patient Care & Communication

• Provide clear, empathetic explanations of treatment steps and home‑care instructions
• Support patients and parents in understanding orthodontic appliances and expectations
• Communicate professionally with referring dentists and other health providers
• Contribute to a calm, organised, and patient‑focused clinical environment

Administrative & Team Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate patient records
• Assist with appointment flow and time management
• Participate in team meetings, training, and quality‑improvement initiatives
• Uphold YK Orthodontics’ values of professionalism, transparency, and patient‑centred care

Qualifications & Requirements

• Registered Dental Hygienist, or Oral Health Therapist, with AHPRA
• Current ACT radiation licence
• Working with Working with Vulnerable People check
• Orthodontic experience preferred but not essential (training provided)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to clinical excellence
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Must be able to work at both the Dickson and Tuggeranong clinics
• Availability to start at 1 day/week with capacity to increase to 4 days/week over time

Pay: $65.00 – $75.00 per hour
