Orton-Gillingham Tutor/Literacy Coach

We are seeking compassionate, trusted educators who are passionate about helping children or teens with dyslexia thrive. As a tutor, you will provide one-on-one reading support to students in their homes using a proven, evidence-based instructional method.

Position Details:

• Location: In-person sessions at clients’ homes within the Ottawa area (travel required). To minimize travel time, tutors are matched with students based on their preferred location within the city.
• Training: All tutors will receive free training in the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured, evidence-based method that significantly improves reading and writing skills in students with dyslexia and related learning challenges. Ongoing training will be provided remotely.
• Schedule: Flexible hours - tutors set their own schedules and typically work between 2–8 hours per week.
• Employment Type: Independent contractor - be your own boss and manage your own time.

Requirements:

• Background in teaching and/or working with children in a 1:1 setting
• Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs
• Excellent behaviour management and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with parents
• Genuine passion for helping students overcome educational barriers
• Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to clients' locations to provide in-person tutoring sessions
• Successful candidates will be required to provide an updated Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check

Pay: From $28.50 per hour
