About the Role
Baboró seeks a creative and enthusiastic person to join our ambitious team in Galway. This is an exciting role informed by our that is key to the realisation of Baboró’s ongoing mission to put creativity at the heart of every childhood by improving the accessibility and inclusivity of our annual festival and year round programmes.
This position has been carefully developed and shaped over the past four years to create a strong foundation of community partnerships through sustained relationship building, clear communication, innovative creative offerings and excellent documentation and evaluation, proving the deep impact of the work.
The Outreach Manager will work closely with Baboró’s team to develop, deliver and manage Baboró’s year round community and participatory projects. You will work on a variety of durational projects, including Artists in Residence programmes and Baboró’s Children’s Panel. You will maintain and further develop important strategic relationships with Baboró’s education and community partners throughout Galway city, county and beyond, to ensure that we are reaching all children in our community, especially those most in need, fulfilling our objectives according to our . You will listen to and cultivate the voice of the child as co-creators and an essential component of our organisation and programmes.The role also entails researching access barriers to participation in the festival, allowing Baboró to plan, resource and engage accordingly.
This is a dynamic role which offers excellent opportunities to develop your own unique skill set and areas of interest. You will bring your own creative practice to the work whilst building on Baboró outreach work to date. You are a friendly, empathetic, resourceful and well organised person with excellent communication skills and a passion for the arts for children and young people. Role Objectives
The aim of this role is to help us to achieve the following objectives within our Strategic Plan:
Goal 1 - Our annual Festival continues to be Baboró’s beating heart – a celebration of all our work and a gathering place for our community:
- Work hard to make sure that everyone feels that they belong at the festival by breaking down barriers to attendance and participation.
Goal 2 - Children in all their diversity and brilliance will be at the centre of our programmes and activities:
- Take children seriously, listen to their ideas and incorporate them into how we work and the programmes we create.
- Reflect the diversity of children living in Ireland in our programming and the accessibility of our offerings.
- Invest in relationships with schools and community groups across Galway city and county to create pathways for teachers and families to connect with Baboró and encourage their children towards ongoing engagement with the arts.
- Build real connection with families and community groups that are currently underrepresented in arts participation and enable their meaningful engagement in the Baboró community and wider arts scene.

Key Role Activities
- Sustained relationship building with communities and project stakeholders.
- Successfully deliver year round projects to engage hard to reach audiences.
- Communicate outreach work internally and with stakeholders, building on learnings and identifying potential funding streams to support the work.
- Oversee the Baboró Children’s Panel including recruitment, communication, logistics, child welfare, documentation and running monthly creative workshops.
- Work closely with Baboró Artist in Residence to support the above objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities
Communities:
- Work closely with Baboró’s team and the wider Galway community to connect with our existing and potential audiences and partners.
- Ensure the careful stewardship of relationships with community partners, youth workers and families nurtured over many years.
- Identify and reach out to communities with whom Baboró does not currently have an established relationship.
- Work with Baboró’s Artist in Residence to ensure a cohesive approach to outreach work and communications with community groups and schools..
- Work closely with Baboró’s Development Manager to identify and develop funding streams to ensure Baboró’s Access programme can support those most in need.
- Roll out workshops for practitioners working with children and youth across Galway City and County in conjunction with programme partners and associate artists.
Festival:
- Work with the Executive Producer and box office team to roll out free Outreach Access tickets and transport subsidies to attending community groups.
- Work closely with the festival production team to ensure the festival is accessible to all children and their communities and families via the provision of access measures such as touch tours, ISL and social stories, to name a few.
- Feed into the development of the festival workshop programme.
Baboró Children’s Panel:
- Oversee and coordinate the Baboró Children’s Panel including recruitment, communication, logistics, child welfare and running monthly creative workshops.
- Design and coordinate the Panel’s annual festival visit in conjunction with the Executive Artistic Director.
- Act as a liaison between the Children’s Panel and Baboró’s executive team and Board of Trustees, ensuring that the voice of the child remains central to everything we do.
Project Management:
- Work closely with the Baboró team to design and deliver year round community and participatory projects aligned with Baboró’s Strategic goals.
- Manage the development, delivery, monitoring and reporting of multiple projects within budget and on time.
- Manage key partnerships and relationships with project artists, stakeholders and participants.
- Ensure clear and effective communication between Baboró, partners and stakeholders.
- Report to funders providing written, visual and financial reports to meet their funding and reporting requirements.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Oversee effective monitoring and evaluation, and ensure results are clearly and effectively reported to stakeholders.
- Liaise with research partners and the Baboró team to ensure timely communication of project research findings.
General:
- Keep up to date with changes in local, national and international best practice to ensure that Baboró’s outreach work is in line with key local and national government priorities.
- Support the wider Baboró team as required.

Candidate Experience and Qualities
You are a multi-disciplinary artist with at least 3 years’ experience of devising and delivering high quality creative engagement activities across a variety of community settings, ideally within the creative arts for children sector. You have worked with a diverse range of communities, fostering lasting relationships with hard-to-reach communities of children and families. You are resourceful and used to working with limited budgets. You can communicate clearly in a variety of forms to a range of stakeholders including children and young people, colleagues and funders. You are passionate about every child’s right to participate in the creative arts and have their voice heard.
You can demonstrate excellent project management skills, including budget management, with the ability to build long-lasting relationships inside and outside the organisation. A good working knowledge of relevant policies and legislation, safeguarding and child protection is essential. You are passionate about access to the arts for all children, no matter their circumstance. You enjoy working in a busy environment to multiple deadlines, with a small supportive team.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of socially engaged and multidisciplinary art practices.
- A proven capacity to conceptualise, design and deliver creative outreach programmes for children and young people.
- Experience facilitating youth consultation through taster workshops and needs assessments to develop and support strategic goals.
- Ability to collaborate creatively and strategically within a team, reaching project goals and achieving reporting deadlines.
- Experience working with artists, multidisciplinary practitioners and collaborating with varied groups and community leaders to design and deliver creative outreach programmes.
- Excellent listening, mediation and facilitation skills in community partnerships.
- Excellent writing, editing and digital literacy skills.
- Demonstrate agility and ability to prioritise a busy workload and make informed decisions with multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge of current Child Protection and safeguarding laws.
- Fluency in English language, both oral and written.
- A friendly, warm and approachable personality.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience of managing, producing and delivering quality arts projects to families and community groups, including children and young people who may experience barriers to the arts.
- Knowledge of the Lundy Model of Child Participation.
- Experience of developing participation and learning strategies.
- Knowledge and experience of providing a variety of access supports.
- Experience of designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems.
- A working knowledge of the Irish language, and any other languages.

About Baboró International Arts Festival for Children
Baboró is Ireland’s flagship international arts festival devoted exclusively to children and families. In 2026, we celebrate 30 years presenting a multidisciplinary arts festival to thousands of children in Ireland from our Galway base.
Baboró is a not-for-profit dedicated to delivering a diverse creative programme from Ireland and around the world at its annual festival. Throughout the year Baboró delivers an exciting portfolio of projects that support artists and educators in their endeavours to inspire children to engage with the world through their experience of the creative arts.
Baboró is funded by the Arts Council, locally by Galway City and County Council, and a variety of other national funds alongside corporate sponsorship and donations. Baboró is in partnership with domestic and European organisations and agencies in the development of the creative arts for children. Baboró also undertakes several arts in education projects to deepen our engagement with school communities throughout Galway city and county. This year’s festival will take place from 9 - 18 October 2026.

Terms and Benefits of Employment
Contract
This is a part-time position (3/3.5 days a week) and offers a 3 year fixed term employee contract, subject to 6 months probation.
Working Hours:
Our standard office hours are 9.30am – 5.30pm, Monday – Friday. The role’s work week will be agreed between the candidate and Baboró considering the needs of the individual and organisation. Include occasional work outside agreed office hours, especially in October. It may involve some travel from time to time.
Baboró’s offices are located in Galway city centre. You should be based in Galway and available to work from our office, with occasional hybrid working.
Salary range:
€32,000 - €36,000 (pro rata) commensurate with experience.
Pension:
Baboró operates a contributory pension scheme and is registered with MyFutureFund, the auto-enrollment pension scheme.
Holidays:
20 annual leave days (pro rata) plus up to 4 company days per annum.
