Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pūkenga - Lecturer in Physical Activity and Wellbeing for a fixed-term, full-time position for one year.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the research and teaching programme of the Centre.
- Lead mixed-methods research with a focus on the surveillance and evaluation of physical activity and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research students working on projects directly aligned to the purpose of the Centre.
- Coordinate undergraduate / postgraduate courses that develop skills in physical activity and wellbeing promotion.
- Actively engage with key internal and external stakeholders critical to the purpose and functions of the Centre, including collaborations with relevant international, government and community stakeholders.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You are passionate about research and teaching in the field of physical activity.
Key requirements:
- A completed PhD in a relevant field or other relevant qualifications commensurate with the role.
- A developing record of scholarly research and publication and/or creative work.
- A research agenda.
- Demonstrated evidence of some successful teaching in a relevant field at tertiary level.
- Experience analysing and reporting physical activity data from various sources within New Zealand and/or internationally.
- Experience collaborating with other researchers to assess and report physical activity participation and wellbeing outcomes.
- Demonstrated evidence of good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of te reo Māori me ona tikanga and/or track record of achievement in addressing disparities in research and teaching.
- Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative data collection and analytical skills with diverse population groups.
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Established international collaborations that support teaching and research outputs.
