Painter Team Leader (Salary to be discussed)

The Painter Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the painting team to ensure surfaces and components are prepared and coated safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. The role combines hands-on spray-painting duties with work allocation, team guidance, quality checks, materials control, and progress reporting to ensure production schedules and customer specifications are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, allocate, and coordinate daily painting activities to meet production priorities and deadlines.

• Lead, support, and provide practical guidance to painters, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, filling, and priming, and ensure team members follow the correct preparation methods.

• Mix paints, coatings, and related materials in accordance with colour, finish, and technical specifications.

• Operate spray-painting equipment safely and carry out painting duties as required to support the team.

• Monitor workmanship throughout the painting process and inspect completed work for finish, coverage, uniformity, and compliance with specifications.

• Address minor quality or workflow issues promptly and escalate significant defects, delays, or equipment problems to the Production Manager.

• Ensure painting equipment, booths, tools, and work areas are cleaned, maintained, and kept in safe working condition.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including the correct handling and storage of hazardous materials and the use of required personal protective equipment.

• Monitor paint and consumable stock levels, minimise waste, and notify the Production Manager when materials need to be replenished.

• Maintain accurate records of materials used, work completed, defects, rework, and production progress.

• Support the induction and on-the-job training of new or less experienced team members.

• Promote effective communication, teamwork, continuous improvement, and a positive, professional working environment.
