Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional (1:1 Teacher’s Assistant) to support students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, working closely with lead teachers and specialists to implement individualized education plans. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities or special needs, and possess a strong understanding of childhood development and classroom management techniques. Prior experience in early childhood education, daycare, or private school environments is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives while gaining valuable experience in education and special needs support.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans across subjects such as literacy education, math, and curriculum development.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities, including those with autism or behavioral challenges, ensuring they stay engaged and on task.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive learning environment and promoting appropriate behavior through behavior management strategies.
- Help facilitate activities that promote early childhood development, preschool readiness, and toddler care.
- Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials for lessons and maintaining a clean, safe space for students.
- Support students’ social-emotional development through effective communication skills and personalized attention.
- Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt instructional methods for students with unique needs, including Montessori or other specialized curricula.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers and parents regarding student behavior and learning milestones.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare, preschool, private schools, or classrooms supporting children with disabilities.
- Knowledge of special education practices, behavior management techniques, and childhood development principles.
- Experience with lesson planning, curriculum development, and literacy education is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with children who have autism or other developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists.
- Ability to manage classroom activities and promote positive behavior through classroom management strategies.
- Experience working with diverse populations of students, including toddlers, preschoolers, or early learners.
- Certification or training in early childhood education or related fields is a plus but not required. This position provides a rewarding opportunity to support student success while developing your skills in education and special needs support within a collaborative team environment.
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
