At Mackenzie District Council we work together as a team to deliver the best outcomes for our district. We are seeking a Parking and Responsible Freedom Camping Ambassador to join our team in a fixed term part time capacity.
As our Parking and Responsible Freedom Camping Ambassador you will be responsible for the education and enforcement of the newly implemented parking bylaw and interacting with freedom campers, educating them about rules, for example where it is permissible to camp and where it is prohibited. Other matters include education and enforcement as it relates to self-containment regulations and dealing with issues like littering and giving advice on local facilities and attractions.
As there an enforcement side to this role you’ll need to be comfortable with issuing fines for breaches relating to parking or freedom camping whilst being able to resolve problems and issues quickly so therefore you must be comfortable dealing with conflict or stressful situations. The ability to remain calm is crucial.
To be successful in this role you will have a mature outlook, be trustworthy with a clean police record, be well spoken with an ability to communicate with different nationalities and professional as well as be prepared to represent the Mackenzie District Council in a professional manner.
Local knowledge would be advantageous but isn’t essential. All training will be provided to ensure that you can do and are comfortable executing the role.
We invite applications from Contractors and those seeking fixed term work. The fixed term is from mid December 2024 to early April 2025. This role involves split shifts during the day with the hours of work likely being from 0530 – 0900 and 1600 – 1900 daily. The hourly rate for this role is $35 - $40 gross per hour.
