OVERVIEW
The Athletic Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Athletics Manager with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of all athletics programs and other fitness and sports related competition programs for youth between the ages of 5 and 18. The Athletic Coordinator must possess strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to promoting the benefits of physical activity.
This position has a work schedule that includes Saturdays.
NOTE: This is a part-time, hourly position that is not benefits eligible
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer social, recreation, fitness, and sports programs and activities.
- Conduct organized and structured physical group activities for children aged 5-18 years.
- Maintain the upkeep of athletic facilities and report safety hazards to management.
- Assist with after-school program and summer camp sports, recreation programs and field trips.
- Provide supervision and guidance in assigned program area.
- Ensure program areas are clean and organized.
- Develop and maintain a positive environment for children to learn, interact, and grow.
- Develop positive relationships with children, staff, partners and parents.
- Ensure the health and safety of program participants.
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Assist the athletic manager with sports and other recreation programs.
- Knowledge of sport rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
- May be required to undertake other tasks and initiatives to support team and organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidate must be at least 21 years of age, high school diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Working knowledge of social, physical, recreational, fitness and athletic programming.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop team spirit.
- Must have a passion for serving the marginalized and impoverished while positively inspiring youth.
- Minimum of one year of youth development experience in a school, childcare or after-school program setting.
- Proven track record of successfully supervising and running various social, recreation, fitness, and athletic activities for youth, aged 5-18.
- The ability to accommodate various learning styles and skill levels.
- Must be a team player.
- Familiar with principles of youth development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and groups.
- Demonstrated growth mindset and commitment to work toward best outcomes.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
Work Location: In person
