Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki is a 4.5-star, internationally branded Accor hotel that opened in December 2015. The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Housekeeping Room Attendant who can also step into a Relief Supervisor role when required. This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work weekends (especially when acting as Supervisor). You will play a key role in maintaining our high cleanliness standards while ensuring smooth housekeeping operations.

Key Responsibilities: Room Attendant Duties (Primary Role)

  • Thoroughly clean guest rooms, including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and dusting
  • Restock and replace guest amenities and supplies
  • Communicate room status upon completion
  • Maintain a neat and well-organized supply cart
  • Inspect and use cleaning equipment correctly
  • Engage with guests in a professional and friendly manner
  • Participate in the hotel’s sustainability program

Relief Supervisor Duties (As Required)

  • Allocate rooms to attendants and assist with daily workloads
  • Conduct detailed room inspections to ensure high-quality standards are met
  • Coordinate with Front Office regarding room readiness, arrivals, and departures
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues within authority level
  • Provide hands-on training to new housekeeping staff
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are followed
  • Oversee and support the housekeeping team in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper

About You:

We’re looking for someone with a passion for hospitality and an eye for detail.

Requirements:

  • Previous housekeeping experience (hotel experience preferred)
  • Supervisory experience (beneficial but not essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Physically fit, energetic, and capable of performing repetitive physical tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management skills
  • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, Office365)
  • Professional presentation and strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to problem-solve logically and remain calm under pressure
  • Availability: Shifts between 06:00-15:00 as supervisor and 9:00 - 14:00 as room attendant, including weekends and public holidays

Eligibility to Work in NZ:
Applicants must already reside in New Zealand and hold either NZ citizenship, residency, or a valid work visa (minimum 1 year validity required).
