Job Overview
We are seeking a part time BC based lawyer to join our legal team. In this role, you will play a vital part in trial preparation, which includes evidence collection, client communication, legal research, drafting, and generally managing complex client files. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated legal professional eager to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative and fast-paced setting.

Important Note: This role is fully remote and part-time. The successful candidate will be given client files by the firm, and will be paid a fixed fee for each file that is accepted and completed in accordance with the firm's instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to clients on matters relating to residential tenancy law, commercial contract law, and general civil litigation.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on BC and Canadian case law to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review legal documents including contracts, evidence packages, and legal memos (FIRACs) to the managing lawyer.
  • Manage case files efficiently within the firm's organizational systems while maintaining meticulous records of all legal activities.
  • Assist with negotiating settlements and agreements on behalf of clients or the organization to achieve favourable outcomes while minimizing risks.
  • Conduct client communication via email and phone, as needed, to collect and organize client evidence for the purposes of drafting evidence packages in accordance with the firm's needs and instructions.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in British Columbia.
  • Experience with residential tenancy law is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to handle client calls professionally, empathetically, calmly and patiently.
  • writing skills demonstrated through clear drafting of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines with attention to detail.

Preferred but Not Required:

Job Type: Part-time

Projected Total Compensation: $300.00-$4,000.00 per month
