Part Time Maintenance Worker Job Description
The Part Time Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance of the building to maintain a great experience and connection for members at Bowmanville Older Adult Association, in collaboration with the Full Time Maintenance Worker and other Part Time Workers. The Maintenance Worker reports to the Facilities and Transportation Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Facilities and Operations
· Assist with room set ups/take downs for each program activity. This includes setting up and taking down tables/chairs, bringing out/putting away equipment for programs.
· Assist with regular garbage, yard waste and recycle is organized and taken out daily (or multiple times daily as needed) to the garage and weekly to the curb.
· Assist with keeping the garage organized and orderly.
· Assist with ensuring facilities are clean and safe for members, guests and staff while on duty, and alongside full time staff.
· Do regular cleaning routines and use best practices for cleaning and safety of the facility. This includes sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning of washrooms and site rooms.
· Assist with dish washing and cleaning of kitchen as required.
· Ensure all high touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected according to protocols.
· Assist with grounds up-keep as directed by the Facilities and Transportation Manager.
· Be on site to set up/take down and supervise rentals as required by the Facilities and Transportation Manager. Provide customer service to parties renting facilities. Allow access and close facilities as needed.
· Serve as Security for site when required.
· Open and close facility as needed, including locking up and engaging/disabling security system.
· Pick up members and guests with Wheels in Action Program when required, to cover volunteer gaps.
· General labour and maintenance as needed. This may include small handyperson tasks, changing filters, changing florescent bulbs, floor polishing, installing air conditioning units, fans etc.
· Additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
Education
· GED/High School Diploma. Experience in cleaning, maintenance, handyperson, factory, painting or general labour roles.
Experience/Skills
· Ability to lift 40 lbs and do physical requirements of the job.
· Can accurately follow directions, routines and protocols.
· Comfortability climbing ladders, and handling tools.
· Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in a busy environment.
· Able to work effectively with staff teams, volunteers, members, and senior management at all levels.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Problem-solving ability.
· Shows initiative, flexibility and resourcefulness.
· Ability to represent BOAA to members, larger community and partners/partnerships in a manner that reflects well on BOAA
· Flexible with the ability to work evenings or weekends.
· Valid Ontario ‘G’ Driver’s License and vehicle available to travel throughout Durham region.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $19.12 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 25 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:
