When you join the team at Mission Australia, you become part of a community who are determined to end homelessness and ensure people in need can thrive. United by our Christian purpose and values, we advocate for a fairer Australia, to meet the growing needs of people across the country. Together we’re building hope and possibility for all.

Your Opportunity

As a Pathways Coach, you will support parents to overcome vocational and non‑vocational barriers and progress toward sustainable employment and education. Using a strengths‑based, person‑centred approach, you will build confidence, support wellbeing, and help participants achieve their goals.

You will provide tailored one‑on‑one and group support, build strong community connections, and ensure participants feel valued and supported throughout their Parent Pathways journey. You may also assist across other Mission Australia sites, contributing to collaborative and effective service delivery that delivers positive outcomes for families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload, identify barriers, and develop individualised Pathway Plans aligned with Parent Pathways and Mission Australia objectives.
  • Deliver education, pre‑employment programs, and group workshops to build skills and employability.
  • Maintain local labour market knowledge to connect participants with suitable work and training opportunities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including Centrelink and Workforce Australia providers, to support coordinated participant outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records, meet administrative requirements, and ensure compliance with program guidelines.

Requirements for Success

  • Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Employment Services, Career Counselling, Health, or a related field (or currently studying). Mental Health First Aid and/or First Aid is desirable.
  • Experience in Family Services, Workforce Australia, employment services, or case management.
  • Strong ability to support participants to overcome barriers while building positive, professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and client systems.
  • A collaborative team mindset, professional boundaries, flexibility to travel, and willingness to support across programs.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Your benefits

  • Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax
  • Free external, confidential counselling
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave
  • Extra leave including Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off
