Job Description:
This position will function as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Telemetry Technician. A Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. The Telemetry Technician, under the direction of the Registered Nurse is responsible for facilitating the telemetry monitoring of patients on a shift-to-shift basis.Patient care technicians at Intermountain Healthcare are committed to providing patient-centered care while demonstrating our values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mutual Respect. *WE ARE IN NEED OF FULL-TIME VARIABLE SHIFT TECHS AT THIS TIME.*
Cardiovascular-Thoracic Unit:
- We are a 27 bed unit
- We care for patients coming from the PACU, Cath Lab, ICU and ER.
- Patient types we care for are STEMI’s, Heart Failure, Post Open Heart, TAVR’s, Carotid’s and all things Rhythm Related.
- We overflow for the ICU and therefore have a wide variety of patient acuities.
- As a PCT on CVTU you will also be trained as a telemetry tech and have the opportunity to work in the Northern Tele Hub where we monitor patients from 5 different hospitals.
- The unit can be locked 24/7 when necessary for patient and staff safety

Benefits Eligible: Yes
Shift Details: Full-time variable shift available, 36 hours/week. There will be call requirements and the rotating of weekends and holidays.
Additional Details: Shift differentials are given for evenings, nights, and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current CNA Certification.
- and -
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
If working in Utah
-OR-
Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS
-OR-
Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS
For those hired into a skilled nursing facility or long-term care center obtaining a C.N.A. certification within 120 days is allowed only if the new hire has never been had a C.N.A. in Utah. If previously certified, must have a current and valid C.N.A. before start date
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Clerical or customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given to those with at least 1 year of patient care experience.
CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.

Current enrollment in nursing school.
- and -
Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- and -
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
