Patient Services Assistant

SUMMARY:

The Patient Services Assistant reports to the Director of Nursing and receives supervision from the Director of Nursing and Clinical Care Manager and is responsible for assisting the medical staff by performing a variety of clerical tasks that ensure efficiency of the patient care unit. The Patient Services Assistant provides a variety of services to the patients, medical staff and management staff of the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform a variety of clerical tasks.

· Patient Services Assistant will, answer telephones, receives new patients, directs visitors, and provides patient information to medical staff.

· Patient Services Assistant will assemble and maintains patient charts from transfers, admissions, also to discharge.

· Patient Services Assistant will receive and record telephoned laboratory and diagnostic results and notifies appropriate medical staff of the results.

· Patient Services Assistant will transcribe, verify, and follow-up on physician orders for the residents.

· Patient Services Assistant will process patient orders, make request for examinations and other ancillary services, such as x-rays, laboratory tests and transportation for the residents.

Patient Services Assistant will be responsible for assisting with transports that have been scheduled for the residents. (will ride with driver and resident to scheduled appointments).

· Patient Services Assistant will maintain nursing and medical files.

· Patient Services Assistant will order patient care supplies and unit supplies. . . . .Patient Services Assistant will receive, store, and distribute unit supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.

· Patient Services Assistant will perform other duties as assigned.

. Patient Services Assistant will perform duties in a safe manner and comply with established policies and procedures.

· Patient Services Assistant will perform all duties in compliance with established safety and infection control policies and procedures.

· Patient Services Assistant will actively participate in fire, safety and disaster preparedness drills.

· Patient Services Assistant will maintain safe working conditions and practices and follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.

· Patient Services Assistant will promptly report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the Director of Nursing
