As our Payroll Specialist, you will be the sole payroll expert for the business, responsible for delivering accurate, compliant and timely payroll across multiple Australian states.

The role sits within Finance and works closely with HR, business leaders and auditors. You will manage payroll operations end‑to‑end while also contributing to projects, system improvements, compliance audits and process optimisation.

This is not a data‑entry role — it’s a trusted, autonomous position suited to someone who enjoys accountability, ownership and improving how payroll is done.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver fortnightly end‑to‑end payroll across all Australian states
• Calculate and administer commissions, allowances, leave and deductions
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards and other requirements
• Prepare payroll reconciliations and play a key role in payroll audits
• Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries and advice
• Identify and implement payroll process improvements and efficiencies
• Contribute to and lead payroll and HR system projects, and support ad‑hoc payroll‑related HR enquiries

Desired Skills and Experience:
Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end payroll independently in Australia
Previous payroll experience managing a medium to large workforce (approximately 300+ employees preferred)
Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll, awards and legislative requirements
Experience managing commission‑based payroll structures
Demonstrated involvement in payroll audits, reconciliations and compliance
Experience contributing to or leading payroll and HR system projects
Experience working in an ASX‑listed or similarly regulated environment (highly advantageous)
Strong attention to detail with excellent problem‑solving skills
Confident, approachable communicator able to support employees and stakeholders
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with HR and Finance
High level of professionalism, discretion and integrity

We value hybrid work and connection, with a requirement to work at least two days per week from our Alexandria (Sydney) office.
