Pediatric Clinical Nutrition Director

Job Description:

This position serves as a director of all Clinical Nutrition activities and operations related to Pediatric Nutrition Care Organization wide. This position implements and maintains best-practice clinical and operational standards for Clinical Nutrition and Infant Feeding Preparation services including compliance with regulations and data reporting. This position delivers innovative leadership to create an exceptional environment and experience for caregivers and customers. This role collaborates with the Senior Director of Clinical Nutrition and Director of Clinical Nutrition colleagues to create and implement the Clinical Nutrition strategic vision and builds strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. The success of this position results in increased clinical quality, safety, and standardization of both practice and operations. Additionally, this position drives Clinical Nutrition growth, innovation, and positive financial performance. This position reports to the Senior Director Clinical Nutrition.

  • Shift: Weekdays/Hybrid, onsit at Primary Children's Hospital.
  • Full Time 40 hrs/weekly

Essential Functions

  • Supervise a combination of managers and supervisors in Children's Hospitals and Infant Feeding preparation areas within the larger Intermountain Health Clinical Nutrition service line and Nutrition Services Clinical Shared Service.
  • The roll-up span of control for this director role is typically 8-20 departments and 75-250 caregivers and requires the ability to effectively lead through others including both mentoring and empowering department leaders.
  • This role requires an accomplished leader to provide both strategic leadership and operational oversight.
  • This position effectively uses the Intermountain Operating Model (IOM) to support both organizational and service line goals.
  • This position will develop and implement successful strategies that transform the Clinical Nutrition operations (infant, pediatric, adult, acute, ambulatory, accredited programs, telehealth, and outreach).
  • This position will have full budget responsibility/accounting for the departments assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • State licensure or certification in accordance with the primary state of residence requirement for Registered Dietitians. If the primary state of residence requires licensure or certification, this must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition and/or infant feeding management practice.
  • Demonstrated clinical nutrition management.
  • Five years clinical nutrition experience with progressive increase in responsibility to include experience in leadership roles, preferred.
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role, preferred.
  • Clinical Nutrition experience in acute and ambulatory care settings, preferred.
  • Clinical Nutrition experience in infant, pediatric, and adult care settings, preferred.
  • Infant Feeding Management experience and expertise, preferred.
  • Two years of continuous improvement experience or continuous improvement certification, preferred.
  • Specialty certification(s) related to clinical nutrition practice, preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric experience, preferred
  • Experience as a Manager or Director in a Children's Hospital, preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel throughout client service areas as necessary, including overnight, to ensure responsibilities and service requirements are being met.
  • Regular attendance to perform work remotely and on-site during regularly scheduled business hours is required.
  • Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors require employees to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs when the leader takes clinical shifts.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$50.22 - $77.53
